Peak Climbing in Nepal

Peak ClimbingPeak Climbing is another prime attraction of Nepal. The Mountains of Nepal have stood are irresistible landmarks for the world's adventurers since Nepal opened its doors to visitors in the 1950s. Mountaineering can range from climbing the highest peak of the world to climbing lower peaks. ..Although by Himalayan standards 33 "Trekking Peaks" are considered minor peaks, they nonetheless provide snow and ice-climbing, and are technically quite challenging. Mountaineering teams can apply for permit at mountaineering section of the Ministry of the Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation or directly contact to your local trekking agents.

For the permit you should apply for the permit through the trekking agency & you should have climbing guide otherwise permit is not issued. Trekking agency provide qualified & trained climbing guides to take non climbers for convenience, safety & expected successes. By Himalayan standards these are considered minor peaks, but in fact some of them provide relatively challenging snow and Ice climbing of high standard, & more so in Winter. The royalty for these peaks ranges from 150.00 US$ to 300.00 US$ depending on the particular peak for up to 10 member climbing team.

His Majesty’s Government, Ministry of Tourism has delegated it’s a authority 15 more other mountain peaks to NMA, for which peaks the climbers had to take the permission from the ministry. Altogether NMA has got the permission for 33 mountains in total for climbing. Therefore, from this time the interested climbers can be take permission from NMA for 33 peaks to climb.

Newly trekking Peak opened for climbing under Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) from September 2002.

Fee Structure for Group "B" NMA Peaks

Royalty for 1-4 members: USD 350.00
Royalty for 5-8 members: USD 350.00 + USD 40.00 per person
Royalty for 9-12 members: USD 510.00 + USD 25.00 per person

Note: Maximum number of members in one team is 12.

Garbage Deposit for all 33 NMA Peaks

A Garbage Deposit fee of USD 250.00 payable to NMA is required to obtain permits for all 33 NMA peaks. Refunds on the Garbage Deposit shall be as per NMA provisions.
